Diamond cut explained
What is Diamond Cut?
Diamond cut refers to the way a diamond has been shaped and faceted from its rough, natural form. The cut is a crucial factor that influences a diamond's brilliance, sparkle, and overall beauty. A well-cut diamond reflects light effectively, allowing it to create those dazzling flashes of colour and light that make diamonds so highly prized.

Which Diamond shapes and cuts are hard to find?
Some diamond shapes are less common due to lower demand and limited availability. Asscher and radiant diamonds are considered rarer than many other cuts because they are not as popular. Old mine cut diamonds, also known as old European diamonds, are exceptionally scarce as they are no longer being cut in this style. Existing old mine cut diamonds are typically found in inherited jewelry or private collections, and very few are available for purchase.

Which Diamond Cut looks the biggest?
Brilliant cut diamonds often give the impression of being larger than step cut diamonds because of their enhanced sparkle. Among brilliant cut shapes, certain ones can appear larger due to a wider table facet. For example, marquise, oval, and pear diamonds can create the illusion of a larger size compared to other diamond shapes with the same carat weight.
